P.38's are very nice pistols to shoot. However shooting these 70 year old pistol might result in (non)-reparable damage. The worst fear is always the cracking of the slide or breaking the locking block or the grips. Serial numbered parts usually cannot be replaced and this results in a reduced value of the pistol. Other parts can be easily replaced without influencing the "correctness" of the pistol.
The first measure to avoid any damage to your pistol is to replace the recoil springs with new ones. These can be ordered for a few bucks at Wolff Gunsprings. Wartime made parts are quite scarce and therefore I always try to have abundant parts in stock to make sure that I can fix any of my guns if something happens.
If you are looking for any parts, magazines or grips don't be afraid to approach me (info@pistole38.nl). Below is a parts diagram of the P.38 pistol.
